In your opinion, what's the best live TV streaming service right now on a tight budget?

Main Post:

So am trying to find a good live TV streaming that won’t completely wreck my budget. Just something I can customize my channel lineup a bit (pick between sports, news, lifestyle, etc.) I don’t really need 100+ channels, just the ones I actually watch.

Also other things like a decent cloud DVR (something like 50+ hours is fine), option to stream on multiple devices (family of 4), local channels would be great but not a dealbreaker if there's a workaround like using an antenna, and works on Roku/Fire TV/Apple TV.

I’ve seen some services offer themed add-ons (like extra sports or kids content) and that would actually be perfect for me since I’d rather not pay for stuff I don’t watch. Anyone here using something that checks most of these boxes?

Watching free live TV?

Main Post:

Hi, I'm from Europe and would want to watch free live tv for example from ziggo. Or some sport channels. Now I know I can buy some sort of a box for 50euros to watch it all. But how would I go about doing it myself?

Top Comment: Use sites like Cricfree, and apps like Sportsfire. The FMHY site gives you everything you need. Just make sure to install uBlock Origin in your browser to block the ridiculous number of ads.

Which app is best for free tv?

Main Post:

I mean it seems all the free apps such as Pluto and Roku have the same channels. Are all the free TV apps the same?

Top Comment: Pluto TV has over a hundred free channels and tons of on demand content. Roku Channel has a ton of on demand content but I don’t think it has as many free channels. Plex has a lot of free channels and on demand content plus it allows you to stream your content from your computer. Tubi TV has a ton of on demand content but I haven’t checked out the live TV channels. They did just have the Super Bowl air live as they are owned by CBS or FOX.

I tried & compared all the live TV streaming services- here are my thoughts

Main Post:

My name is Matt and I run a YouTube channel called Shall I Stream It? I recently published a video where I compared all of the major live TV streaming services (in the U.S.).

Here’s a link, with my TL;dw notes after:

https://youtu.be/mDoLvn5AtqI

-You can probably skip out on these & go w/ on-demand services like Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, etc. if you don’t watch sports.

-Peacock & Paramount are cheapest way to get NBC & CBS

-Frndly TV is low cost but only get if you’re looking for classic TV, A&E Networks, or Hallmark and its adjacent networks

-PBS is free

-NOW TV & Spectrum TV Stream lack in features like DVR (these are the exceptions I haven’t tried as you need to bundle w/ new internet plan)

-Philo offers good entertainment channels but might be worth it to get ad-free tiers of Paramount+, Max, etc. instead

-Sling has sports & news but feels like a compromise vs YouTube TV

-YT TV is a great overall live TV service even if missing A&E Networks & learning curve if switching from cable

-Hulu Live TV has great on-demand selection but lacks 4K channels & other features

-Fubo has best interface IMO and also RSNs even if missing TNT & TBS

-DirecTV Stream is expensive, has confusing marketing, but most complete channel lineup

One extra note I’ll add is that Fubo now has a cheaper plan that skips the RSNs. Also Sling’s price is going up this month.

Anyway- what does everyone think?

Edit: formatting/spacing

Top Comment: I think a key benefit of Directv is that it is the easiest in terms of learning curve if one gets the device they offer. It has a numeric, universal remote that will be very familiar to cable viewers. Maybe not as much of a consideration for younger viewers, but for older viewers, it can make a big difference.

TV Channels Live Streaming

Main Post:

I have spent the past two days trying to watch March Madness and I am at my wit's end. I ususally use tgo tv or buffstream but watching a game on those has become impossible. More than 30 seconds of continuous play is a fantasy. I have checked the megathread's options and none of them have college basketball... does anyone know of a site that lets me stream ABC, CBS and TNT continuously? How hard can this possibly be?! The legal options don't work because I'm not in the US.

Best websites to watch live TV, that includes "local" TV stations?

Main Post:

I used to use USTVGO.TV and they used to be great until they started blocking many of their sites. I recently found thetvapp.to on here, and I am extremely impressed as it seems to be smooth, with no pop-ups or buffering. They have a wide variety of channels, and even have a special section for all sporting events for the day. However, they do not seem to include "local" channels like FOX, ABC, CBS, and NBC. I do not care which state they are from. I just want to be able to watch a handful of weekly TV shows.

EDIT - BooPear- responded pointing out that the local channels are posted at the bottom of the channels list on thetvapp.to THANK YOU!

Daddylivehd - I tried it shortly and it had so much lag, and the pop-ups were pretty bad.

thetvapp.to clearly seems to be the current king of live TV streaming. The sites I use to stream NFL games are inconsistent with buffering issues, and sometimes takes 10-20 clicks on my TV to get the game to play and to get full screen (Stream East). I am looking forward to checking out football on thetvapp.to this upcoming Sunday!

Top Comment: Bro that TVapp link is fire. Ty
